History of The Indie Bible
The history of The Indie Bible is discussed at great length in an interview that editor David Wimble gave to The Princeton Songwriters Association founder (and mi2n correspondent) Anne Freeman
Anne: David, tell us about what inspired you to create the Indie Bible. What was your initial idea and how did it come about?
David: As is the case with a lot of things in life, the Indie Bible was created totally by accident. In 1999 I was in the process of recording my first CD. During the last months of recording, whenever I was away from the studio, I searched online for places that might help the CD to get some attention - radio stations that would play my songs, publications that would review the CD etc. I wanted to be prepared so that there would be a lot of places to send the CD to once it was pressed and ready to go.
The Faces of The Indie Bible

David Wimble - Editor
David began publishing The Indie Bible in 1999. It was created by accident as he searched for ways to promote the 1999 release of his "Wild River" CD. To date, songs from the Wild River CD have been heard on over 300 TV shows, documentaries, and made-for-TV movies.
While trying to promote the CD, David became frustrated with the wasted hours spent on the Internet searching through outddated sites and dead links... trying to find "the good stuff." Out of this frustration, The Indie Bible was born.
David has retired from music and dedicates all his time towards publishing The Indie Bible and the Indie Venue Bible.
He also publishes The Indie Contact Newsletter, a newsletter full of helpful articles, listings, and tips that goes out to 95 000 musicians each month.
David resides in Ottawa, Ontario with his wife Barb.

Herschel Lechcier-Kimel - Vice President, Associate Editor
A recent honours graduate of The University of Ottawa, Hersch is currently enrolled in his 2nd year of Law School in Long Island, new York. Hersch was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Music has always been a strong passion, and he enjoys a variety of genres and styles. There was never a dull moment growing up with four sisters in a home rich with culture and a variety of influence. With his parents Jack and Mavash being classical music enthusiasts, young Hersch was treated to many concerts at the famous Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto. After attempting to follow the footsteps of his older sister Rachel, an exquisite violinist, Hersch decided at the tender age of four that this instrument was not for him. Next came the trumpet, piano, and drums, with the length and seemingly unsuccessful guitar lessons that followed, helping him realize that his talent lay more on the management and business side of the equation, and not so much on the personal performance aspects of music itself.
Hersch actively joined Big Meteor Publishing in 2006. His current position is head of all Advertising, Marketing, and Business Development programs. By utilizing his extensive university degrees in Psychology and Criminology, and combining them with the knowledge now gained from his legal education, Hersch also has the unique ability to bring sophistication and a wide ranging perspective to all matters relating to our company.
As an avid sports fan, any opportunity Hersch gets to sneak away from his desk, the courtroom, or the library is spent enjoying different sporting events nationwide. His favourite sports teams include the Toronto Maple Leafs, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Cowboys. His favourite colour is green, and favourite food is Japanese cuisine. His varied hobbies included swimming, sports, cars, traveling, and spending quality time with his family and friends.
