Overall, 120 winners will split over $200,000 in cash and prizes. Beyond the substantial cash prizes, some winners will receive EMI Music Publishing Contracts and Yamaha Project Studio Equipment. Monthly - four finalists will be chosen monthly to compete in the yearly competition. 50 songs will be chosen and submitted to the music industry.

Yearly Prizes: First - $5000 cash and a package of products. Second - $1000 cash and a package of products. Thrid - $500 and package of products. Top 10: prize package:

A one-song entry requires a $30 entry fee. Each additional song will require a $20 entry fee. One song that is submitted into two categories requires a $30 entry fee for the first category and a $20 entry fee for each additional category. Song critiques are available for a $9 fee.

Song of the Year (SOTY) is an international contest encouraging the art and discipline of songwriting. Our primary focus is to find great songwriters while helping them network with professionals in the music industry. A portion of the proceeds support VH-1's Save the Music Foundation. Songs will not be judged on recording quality. .

Songs that have been published and/or copyrighted may be entered, but songs that have been recorded by a major label artist are not eligible. The song does not have to be "radio-ready" to enter the contest. The judging will not be on recording quality. It will be on the quality of the song & lyrics.

US resident. High school senior in the 2004-2005 school year, or 17 or 18 years old on December 1, 2004.

ARTS Gold Awards: $10,000 each First-Level Awards: $3,000 each Second-Level Awards: $1,500 each Third-Level Awards: $1,000 each Fourth-Level Awards: $500 each Fifth-Level Awards: $100 each In addition, an unlimited number of $100 Honorable Mention Awards and Merit Awards of Recognition (with no monetary value) are granted to non ARTS Week participants.

The fee structure is $30 for early applications and $40 for applications after the June 1st early deadline. There is a $5 discount if you apply online.

For each Music category entered, the applicant will be required to prepare a CD or audiotape giving a sample of the applicant's performance. The required content of the recording varies according to the music category. CDs are preferred.

ISC is open to all amateur and professional songwriters and anyone regardless of nationality or origin.

Prizes: Grand Prize winner will receive US $10,000 cash and $30,000 in merchandise/services. 1st place category winners will receive $1,000 cash and $2,000 in merchandise and services. 2nd Place category winners will receive $1,000 in merchandise and services. 3rd winners will each receive $500 worth of merchandise and/or services. Prizes for the Teen category differ from the regular categories. There will be three overall Teen winners: two for best song and one for best lyrics.

$30 per entry. If you enter one song in multiple categories or more than one song in one or multiple category(ies), your entry fee must correlate to the number of individual entries. For example, if you enter one song in two categories, the fee is $60.
